Some observations
GK Angie Benson allowed 6 goals and had 11 saves. GK Morgan Berman is rehabbing her ACL. Thank goodness Sung brought in Benson from retirement. Sydney Gagnon played goal for 8 minutes and gave up 2 goals and freshman GK Maggie Lyons gave up 2 goals in the final 2.5 minutes.
Freshman Kayla Frank scored the first 3 goals of the game and had 5 assists. All-American Paige petty scored 5 goals, Emma Crooks had 3, and freshman Jacelyn Lazore had 2 goals along with Julia Bolte. Lubnow and Caskey each scored a goal.
Freshman Jacelyn Lazore showed some speed. Paige Petty started off slow but dominated late in the 1st half and the 2nd half. Tech was sloppy at times. Too many turnovers for my liking. Davidson did well against Tech in draw controls. Tech will have to improve on draw controls if they want to beat any ACC team. I was impressed with GK Angie Benson's leadership. She was very vocal and told defenders where to move. Too bad about GK Berman's injury. I guess she'll redshirt if she can't come back this season. She's a junior. John Sung has more talent in his 4th season. IMO, Petty, Crooks, Caskey, Bolte, Frank, Lazore, Ricci, Nelson, and Benson are top tier ACC players. Tech plays #17 JMU in Harrisonburg on Wednesday.
